Credit counselors, debt managers drawing fire
The Florida Attorney General's office currently has four active investigations involving complaints about debt service and credit counseling companies, including one located in Largo.The situation involving these financial services businesses probably will get worse as state and federal agencies grapple with increasing complaints from financially strapped consumers seeking help from these businesses. Added to the equation: President Bush signed a bill last week that will require debtors to get credit counseling before filing for bankruptcy.
